The fashion industry is principally driven by creation and innovation. connection that the Global industryhas with Intellectual Property Rights well documented, however, in India; comprehensive understanding of linkbetween IPR laws still at a nascent stage. big houses can exercise control over their creationsthrough right choice but local, smaller, emerging sector more deserted protecting theirintellectual assets. Also, ignorance about infringement among firms lack stringent reprimands frompolicymakers have accelerated consumerism fashion-conscious consumers serving counterfeiting products,building confusion, devaluing creativity. This article segmented into three major parts to shed light on challengesencountered small firms, designers, start-ups, rural textile artisans respect protectingintellectual property. initial segment will give short insight options like copyrights, design registration,patents, trademark, available for domain applicability, moving towards specific challengesfaced local craftsmen, finally compiling possibility amendments required lawsfor Indian fashion, apparel, handicraft sectors.
